About Us

The Gothenburg Election Board, together with its secretariat, is the local election authority and conducts general elections and referendums on behalf of the parliament and the municipal council in accordance with applicable electoral law.

Job Description

The Election Board's secretariat in Gothenburg City is now looking for ballot receivers to work during the advance voting for the general elections in 2026.

On September 13, there will be elections for the parliament, regional council, and municipal council in Sweden, and from August 26, all voters will be able to vote in advance. As a ballot receiver, you ensure that the election is conducted in a safe and secure manner. You assist voters with information, maintain order in the polling place, and are responsible for the registration of votes. The role of a ballot receiver is of utmost importance for the conduct of the election.

The polling places are primarily open during the day, but evening and weekend hours may also occur.

In the advance voting for 2026, digital elements will be introduced for the receipt and registration of votes. Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should be quick to absorb information, be unpretentious, and have a good sense of service. To succeed in the role, you need to be meticulous, have a good sense of order, and be cooperative. Additionally, you should:

  • be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID and e-ID
  • have Swedish citizenship or a work permit
  • speak and write Swedish fluently
  • not be a candidate in the elections or be closely related to someone who is a candidate
  • be able to work full-time throughout the entire period, including evenings and weekends
  • have good judgment, be impartial, and treat people with respect
  • have good digital skills

It is advantageous if you have:

  • previously worked as a ballot receiver
  • language skills beyond Swedish and English
  • experience in service and working with people
  • experience in community engagement

Keep in mind that:

  • you must be able to attend the mandatory training session for the election secretariat in mid-August
  • the work pace can be high at times
  • the job cannot be combined with other full-time work

Conditions

The position is a temporary employment, and we strive to offer full-time work.

Compensation: 175 SEK/hour. Additional OB and vacation pay apply.
